Nice to meet you – how are you.
My name is Philippe Bonnery, I was given this name when I magically appeared in a cabbage sometime ago. I grew up in the Paris west suburb always in search of new adventures sparked with reverie, curiosity and a fascination for cinema, music, the arts, culture and sports. It then led me to exploring a plethora of artsy and sport related activities, while randomly finding myself playing baseball for the French national team. It eventually landed me in the United States on a college baseball scholarship. Alas, my professional baseball career was not meant to be; although, fortunately, it somehow guided me into the exciting world of advertising. First as a “suit”, I soon realized that it was far more exciting to come up with the ideas, and started concepting and art directing for brand campaigns at numerous advertising agencies throughout the US, where I’ve met truly inspiring artists and colleagues with whom I garnered various industry awards. Since becoming exposed to the creative process through design, writing, photography and the outstanding film universe, I then became fascinated with the art world. In November 2014, my partners and I founded Meetinghouse, a non-profit interdisciplinary artistic and cultural space located in downtown Miami. Inspired by past artist cooperatives such as Roycroft, Bauhaus, and the Shakers, we were founded to further the discovery, dialog and expression across disciplines. Our programming includes exhibitions, lectures, screenings, performances, and printed materials, bringing together local, national, international artists and designers based on shared processes and concepts observed in their works.
These days, I am currently freelancing as a creative director around the country and abroad while still searching for the perfect game.
